About us
Excellent Way Ministries was birthed into Pastor Michael A. Small Sr.'s spirit in 2005. In the years to follow, God was molding, shaping and preparing Pastor for the task at hand. Ecclesiastes 3 tells us there is a time and season for everything, so this idea of a ministry would have to wait.

In 2010, Pastor Small was prompted to start Excellent Way Ministries, based on the promise and the vision God had shown him five years earlier. In August 2010, the first service was held in the home of Deacon Samuel and Deaconess Fannie Jones' home. At the time, there were only 6 members: Pastor and First Lady Small, Sis. Vondaleia Kouka, Bro. Jerimiah Kouka, Joshua Small, and Bro. Michael Small Jr. Even is this small group, God showed up and made his presence known. Of course, Pastor Small had some reservations and fears, but being obedient to God, Pastor and First Lady Small, and their two sons stepped out on faith and opened their home to start this church. In September of 2010, with nine members, Excellent Way Ministries was organized. It's scary to step out on faith into the unknown, but when God says move, you must move. God has not failed us. He has supplied our every need.

For 25 years, Pastor Small was under the leadership and tutelage of Pastor Shade Sutton Jr, and our late, precious Mother Evangelist Sutton, and the Vine Street family. This is where Pastor Small received a firm foundation and was taught in the most Holy faith. Pastors Small and everyone who were a part of that branch of Zion will always be grateful and give honor to where it is due.
We honor the memory of Mother Sarah Dukes, our first church mother, and our Dear Sis. Melissa Nelson. They are truly missed and will always be honored.
For five years we worshipped in Pastor Small's home, where we encountered countless miracles, blessings, and wonders, but God made provisions for us to expand. On February 21, 2016, Excellent Way Ministry had its inaugural service at 208 S. Pulaski St. in Baltimore, MD. There, we watched God touch people hearts as they gave unto the ministry unsparingly. We developed a relationship with the community and the local churches. We participated in community projects. God is faithful, and while we were grateful for the edifice God had provided, we knew that was not our final destination.

In June 2018, we packed up our tent and moved to 3437 S Hanover Street, where at the junction of the Holy Spirit and the desire of the members to do more outreach, the church was reorganized to become Excellent Way Ministry Outreach. In the spirit of service, the holy spirit used us to provide healing to those who walked through the doors. We experienced several moves of God there; from God's interaction with Bro. Calvin Nelson, to the miracle baby that the Washington's prayed for, to the Miracle Mel season that increased the faith of the entire church, and navigating the COVID 19 shutdown. Hanover Street was definitely Excellent Way Ministry Outreach's Proving Grounds. We would like to thank The Furbish Company and Mr. Furbish for being a beyond great landlord, and for granting us the time we had on Hanover St.
Coming out of the pandemic, it appeared God wanted a new beginning for Excellent Way Ministry Outreach. After searching for buildings, getting our hopes up, and being let down, God found us a small church on the corner of Gorsuch and Polk Ave. In June of 2022, 1700 Gorsuch Ave became our current home. The church had good bones, but needed to be upgraded, so the members came together and cleaned, painted, and made the church home.

Pastors Michael Small and Palastine Small instruct and teach God's unadulterated word. It is not opinion or bias. In fact, whomever mounts the pulpit at Excellent Way Ministry Outreach, is subject to the declaration of the congregation to "Preach the Word and the Word Only." Our Pastors teach us, that in everything we do, we should do it in excellence, which is in the spirit of love as shown in 1 Corinthians 12:31. The gifts are manifest in the house of God because our pastors give the freedom for the spirit to "have its way." They encourage members to allow the Holy Spirit to work, and not to quench the spirit. We understand the members reflect their pastor and are honored to have Pastor Michael Small as our covering.

We thank God for our entire ministerial staff. Their support and guidance are a blessing the Excellent Way Ministry Outreach family.

We have seen spiritual healing, families have been restored, and those who have been brokenhearted, God has bounded up their wounds, and healed their broken places. God had raised up our youth and given them a mind to totally surrender unto the will of God, for their life. We are so excited and are in anticipation of what God is going to do next.
